Illustrative walkthrough
StillBooked recovers missed calls, after-hours calls, and mid-cut overflow for independent barbershops. It texts the caller back within seconds and, if you opt in, books the appointment into Square Appointments under the right barber. Write-back needs Square Appointments Plus or Premium. On the free plan you get the text-back and the lead.

Bench full, two on the books, phone face-down on the station
The caller gets a text instead of a voicemail he won't leave.
12:48 PM, mid-fade

He texts back 'skin fade Saturday' and it's on Ray's book.

The cut is booked before you're home.
A fade takes both hands
A barbershop phone rings at the worst possible times. You're mid-fade, clippers on, guard off, working the blend. There's a line on the bench and two more coming in on the books. The phone buzzes face-down on the station. You're not stopping. Nobody stops a fade for a phone call. So the caller gets voicemail, and guys calling a barbershop don't leave voicemails. They hang up, open maps, and call the next shop. That's a cut you never knew you lost, and it happens on your busiest days by definition, because those are the days nobody in the shop has a hand free to pick up.
What the text says
StillBooked catches that call the moment it's missed. The caller gets a text within seconds: you're with a client, what do they need, when works. They text back 'skin fade and beard, Saturday morning.' If your shop runs on Square Appointments Plus or Premium, that lands on the right barber's book as a real appointment with the client's number attached. If you're on free Square, Booksy, or something else, the caller gets your booking link and you get the lead texted to you. No bot picks up your phone. No voice pretending to be the shop. Just a text, from your shop's name, that keeps the guy from calling somewhere else.
The moments you actually miss
Walk-in shops have their own version of this. You might not book much at all, but the calls still come: how long's the wait, you open Sunday, can I get in before six. Every one of those is a person deciding whether to drive over. A text back that says you're cutting and asks what they need turns that into a conversation you can finish between clients. You answer in one line. The chair fills. For shops that do book, the same text can hand them the link or put them straight onto the schedule. Either way, the caller hears from you before he hears from your competitor.
After hours is the quiet leak
Evenings matter more than most barbers think. People remember they need a cut when they're looking in the mirror at 9 PM before a Monday interview or a Saturday wedding. They call, the shop's dark, and that's the end of it. Text-back reaches them anyway, lets them pick a slot, and the booking is waiting when you open. You didn't touch your phone. If you want to approve bookings before they post, or keep certain barbers off text booking, those rules are yours to set. Quiet hours too, so nobody's phone lights up at midnight and no client gets a text at an hour that feels wrong.
Not a replacement for anyone
This is built for the owner who cuts. If you're behind a chair forty hours a week and also running the shop, there's no one else to grab the phone, and paying someone to sit up front doesn't pencil out for most independent shops. StillBooked handles the missed call and nothing else. Plans start at $99 a month, no contract. The $199 plan writes bookings straight into Square Appointments on Plus or Premium. A 15-minute diagnosis call is how we figure out where your calls are going and whether this is worth the money for your shop specifically.

How it works
Catch the call. Text them back. Book it.
01
Catch
A call rings out. You're mid-service, or it's after close, or the desk is three deep.
02
Text or book
Within seconds the caller gets a text from your business name, in wording you approved. They reply with what they want and when.
03
Remind
A confirmation text goes to the client right away. A reminder goes out before the appointment.
Questions
Questions owners ask first
We're mostly walk-ins. Is this still useful?
Yes. Walk-in shops still miss calls asking about wait times and hours, and StillBooked texts those callers back so you can answer in one line between clients. If you don't book at all, the $99 Text-Back plan is the one to look at.
Can it tell callers the current wait?
Not on its own. The text-back says you're cutting and asks what they need, and you can reply with a wait time when you have a free hand.
Can each barber set their own rules?
On Square Appointments Plus or Premium, StillBooked books onto the barber the caller asks for, and you can take individual barbers off text booking or limit which services they accept by text. Booth renters who run their own Square account are a separate setup we cover on the diagnosis call.
Our shop is on Booksy. Does it write into Booksy?
No. For Booksy, StillBooked is a text-back bridge: the caller gets your Booksy link by text and you get the lead, but nothing is written into your Booksy calendar.
